Renato C. Blanco
Renato is the second out of ten children of a farmer. Due to poverty, he only reached 6th grade. He is a widower, and he has nine children. His 7th out of nine sons, Romnick, being attracted to the foundation’s “Live, Hope. Dream” educational initiatives way back 2011, walked two hours each way, across a bridgeless
river and unpaved roads in order to learn English, computers, and Bible-based values at GreenEarth.
It was his son who encouraged him to become an organic farmer and forest rebuilder at GreenEarth. Because of Renato’s son Rom’s grit, perseverance and diligence, he was assisted by the foundation to vie for a scholarship at the International School Manila from Grade 8 to 12. Rom then applied for scholarships at various colleges and universities in the United States under close tutelage of GreenEarth and was awarded a full-ride scholarship at Harvard College where he recently graduated with a degree in History and Government.
Renato’s son Rom is the first college graduate in his family. Kuya Renato displays his gratitude to the LORD and GreenEarth everyday by his heartwarming smile and lovingly caring for our trees.
At his age, Renato is very grateful that he can still have work with dignity at GreenEarth. He is filled with joy whenever he plants. Being surrounded with a multitude of plants and trees, he experiences the peace in his spirit and relaxation for his body, he says. He is a remarkably cheerful farmer and forest steward.
